Monorail testing


The Line 1, also referred to as Jacob Circle-Wadala-Chembur line/corridor, of the Mumbai Monorail is part of the rapid transit system for the city of MumbaiIndia. It  costs approximately 3000 crore (US$550 million). The 19.54 km line is be fully elevated.

In the first phase, it will consist of 7 stations from Wadala to Chembur. The first phase from will begin operations in August 2013 and the second phase from Jacob Circle to Wadala will be commissioned in December 2013.

Line 1 will be the first monorail line in India and the world’s second longest monorail route after the 21.2 km long Osaka Monorail Main Line in Japan.

[edit]Integration with Mumbai Suburban Railway

Mono1

Line 1 will be integrated with all 3 lines of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. The monorail stations will be connected with local railway stations at Mahalaxmi on Western LineCurrey Road and Parel on Central Line, and Wadala Road and GTB Nagar on Harbour Line.
