Flamingoes , in their early days arew completely white . Algae helps flamingoes to acquire pink colour and adulthood . Since , Sewri is an industrial area , algae mudflats have developed near Sewri coast , which lies on the eastern coast of Mumbai . This is the Reason ! , why lakhs of flamingoes migrate from gulf of Kuchch to Sewri annually .

These large pink birds can be seen in Mumbai from December to March .
